Dubai: Gulf Medical University in Ajman has hosted IMSACON 2012, an international Conference on Evidence Based Medicine, Scope and Challenges.
More than 200 international and local delegates met at the university’s campus, and for the concluding convocation on October 6 and 7.
At the conference, leading experts from the UAE, India, and the USA addressed various topics related to medicine, surgery, women’s health, radiology and diagnostics and medical education.
His Highness Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, was awarded with an Honorary Fellowship of IMSA during the convocation ceremony at the Kempinski Hotel, Ajman, on Sunday. Prof Ian Anderson, President of the Royal College of Surgeons in Glasgow, UK, was also the guest of honour at the event.
“In recognition of the farsighted vision, great leadership and direction of His Highness Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, the President and the Board of Trustees of International Medical Sciences Academy have unanimously decided to award the prestigious fellowship to His Highness. We are grateful to His Highness for accepting the fellowship,” said Dr K Jagadeesan, President of IMSA.
Thumbay Moideen was also announced to be the Patron of the IMSA Middle East Chapter and Prof Gita Ashok Raj, Provost GMU the Chairperson of the Chapter.
The event which is an annual conference of the International Medical Sciences Academy (IMSA) was also accredited by the Ministry of Health, UAE.
Gulf Medical University has been identified as the headquarters for the Middle East Chapter of International Medical Sciences Academy (IMSA) and is an Associate Member of Council for International Organisations of Medical Sciences, Geneva.
