Royal Jordanian was awarded gold for the best website of an Arab carrier in 2007 at the 3rd annual contest recently held by the Pan Arab Web Awards committee in Dubai. Nine Arab airlines participated in the competition.

Jazeera Airways won Silver, and MenaJet Bronze.

Vice President/Marketing, Sales & Services, Mr Hussein Dabbas said that the company recently revamped its website, www.rj.com, with a view to making it a major marketing and communication tool.

The portal is designed to facilitate complete travel needs; it offers travelers various options, services and facilities, serving as a flight reservation and Internet booking engine, helping purchase e-tickets, printing out boarding passes, and giving information on flight schedules.

The airline is now collaborating with a leading local web design company to make the website accessible in Arabic, French, Spanish and German, in addition to English. This will grant visitors from all over the world easier access to the website, helping those who wish to make easy use of the airline's simplified services. "The move is part of the company's ongoing efforts to upgrade the services it provides its customers in the air and on ground and to keep up with the international technological development," said Dabbas.

He pointed out that the website also features detailed information about RJ's aircraft fleet, its history and progress, and its many services one can become familiar with through interactive animation and virtual tours. Visitors can also learn about the various destinations served by RJ, ticket fares and the frequent flyer program through dedicated pages on the website, while getting real time information, like currency exchange rates and weather forecasts. The website is now connected to the oneworld website as RJ became a full-fledged member of the oneworld global airline alliance on April 1 this year.

Yola Isaac, marketing director at Royal Jordanian, received the prize at the Dubai ceremony.
