Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Sunday honoured the winners of the Dubai Government Excellence Programme and said the programme is a measurement of the progress of government departments and employees.

A government job is not only an avenue to make a living, but also for creativity and innovation.

To reinforce Dubai's commitment to best practices and celebrate the award's 10th anniversary, Shaikh Hamdan presented the Covenant of Excellence to Shaikh Mohammad.

Dubai Police General Headquarters and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) shared first place for the best government departments.

The Awqaf and Minor Affairs Foundation won the award for best government department in customer services.

Shaikh Mohammad honoured the winners of the Dubai Government Excellence Programme in its 10th year and said the programme is a measurement of the progress of government departments and employees.

Shaikh Hamdan told the audience that his father always tells his sons that "you are my children and I love you and Dubai is my daughter and I love her, but in Dubai there is no place for the one who does not accomplish, produce and create."

Shaikh Mohammad then honoured the winners of Dubai Government Excellence Programme in various categories.

He also honoured the unsung employees in government departments as well as the establishers of the programmes including Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, and other contributors.

Therefore, efforts must be to serve the people and the society and enable them to live decent lives.

Competition

Eighteen government departments competed in various categories of the programme.

The government departments with less customer satisfaction were the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai Courts and Dubai Health Authority. The departments with less employee satisfaction were Dubai Media Incorporated, Dubai Municipality and Tourism and Commerce Marketing.

Special honouring included, Dubai Courts for achieving the highest percentage of performance progress, followed by DNRD for implementing customer complaint system, DEWA and Economic Development Department.

Shaikh Mohammad honored seven sons of Mattar Sultan Awad Al Siri, who volunteered and contributed in exhausting rain waters, which clustered on Emirates Road during the latest rains.

The sons, Abdullah, Mohammad, Jamal, Saeed, Badr, Rashid and Ghaith worked the entire night during the rain to help drain the road and ease traffic.

Loyalty Bond

To reinforce Dubai's commitment to the best practices and to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Dubai Government Excellence Programme Awards, Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, presented the Covenant of Excellence to His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The Covenant collectively voiced the appreciation of Dubai government's leaders and heads of departments, unanimously acknowledging the rare leadership exemplified by Shaikh Mohammad.

Affirming their commitment to raising the bar of excellence, the departmental heads confirmed: "As we come together to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the programme, we firmly pledge to assert our long lasting dedication to abide by your principles of quality, and complying with the criteria of excellence in both words and deeds."

Unsung heroes honoured

Shaikh Mohammad honoured twelve government employees from various departments for their creativity and innovation at their departments.

Shaikh Mohammad also honored 28 unsung employees including nine females for their devotion beyond their jobs.
