Doha - DPS-Modern Indian School presented Scholar Badges to students of classes V, VI VII and VIII at an impressive function held in the school recently.

T R Meena, Second Secretary, Indian Embassy, was chief guest at the event. Also present were DPS-MIS President Hassan Chogule, Vice President Rocky Fernandes, Gita Menon (Associate member-DPS-MIS), Principal S Mattu, Headmistress Vinaya, Academic Coordinator Shibanti, students, parents and school officials.

The Scholar Badge is awarded to students of class V and above if they have secured a minimum of 80 percent in aggregate and a minimum of 80 percent in one subject less than the total number of subjects tested in formal examinations and acts as a great motivator for the students to perform well in tests and exams.

Chief Guest Meena presented the scholar badges and certificates to the scholars amidst loud rounds of applause. "It is important that you students make use of all the opportunities made available to you and with the support of your parents and teachers try to be focused and improve in the areas you are gifted in. You must aim for a complete and total development of self into future citizens. Parents and teachers must continue to motivate students to do more and better in the years to come," he said.

Student winners of various competitions were honoured on the occasion. Nishtha Gupta was honoured with the prestigious Amul Vidyashree award for excellent performance in the Class X CBSE Examination for 2006-07 and Akshera Rai received the Amul Vidhyabhushan award for commendable performance in the Class XII CBSE Examination for 2006-07.
