MORONI, Feb 17 (KUNA) -- Kuwait and Comoros signed Saturday evening a number of agreements that will boost the two countries' relations and support development projects here.

The agreements were signed by Kuwait's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah and Comoro Islands' Minister of Foreign Relations and Cooperation Ahmed Ben Sa'id Jaffar.

The agreements signed were in the fields of trade, economic, cultural, educational, and media cooperation, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on holding talks between the two countries' foreign ministries.

Al-Sabah said, in a joint press conference with Jaffar after signing the agreements, that the relations between his country and the Comoro Islands developed under the care of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Comoro's President Ahmad Sambi.

He stressed that Kuwait is looking forward to more cooperation with the Comoro Islands.

For his side, Jaffar praised the ties between Kuwait and his country, adding that the Comoros needs the support of other countries of its national unity and development.

The signing of the agreements was attended by Kuwait's Ambassador to Egypt Dr. Rasheed Al-Hamad, head of the department of the deputy prime minister's office Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, Ambassador Ahmad Al-Kulaib, head of the legal department at the Foreign Ministry Ghanim Saqer Al-Ghanim, and second secretary at Kuwait Embassy in Cairo Mohammad Al-Sharji.
