For the second consecutive year, in recognition of distinctive brand-building initiatives, bank muscat has been voted the Best Brand in the banking segment in the annual Best Brands in Oman survey conducted by BusinessToday (BT) magazine.
"Every year in the Best Brands survey, it becomes more apparent that rivals of bank muscat have much catching up to do before they can manage to knock it off the top spot," the business magazine said.
Waleed al Hashar, group general manager - corporate services, said, "bank muscat is delighted to be voted once again as the Best Brand in Oman. The recognition is a tribute to the largest banking family in Oman, which has played a key role in establishing bank muscat as a community brand.
The emotional chord emanating from the brand has helped bank muscat products and services to evolve over the years in tandem with specific customer requirements. "bank muscat recognises that building strong brand equity is an important recipe for overall success. Through value-added products and services, bank muscat is focused on bringing about a positive change in the lives of different segments of society."
Mohammed al Hassani, AGM for corporate communications and CSR, said, "Over the years, the bank muscat brand has grown beyond a banking brand to become the leading community brand. bank muscat has been successful in developing the community brand identity of which the people of Oman are proud of and is easily recognised in the region and worldwide." The brand recall for the bank was among the highest compared to previous years.
Among the top management survey respondents, 54 per cent of Omanis and 60 per cent of expatriates endorsed the bank. In the popular choice, 68 per cent of Omanis and 66 per cent of expatriates voted for bank muscat. The findings were mainly based on unaided recall, which implied superb brand exposure, indicating a clear competitive advantage.
