Aluminium Bahrain has donated BD2,000 towards the construction of a new training centre for disadvantaged families. The project is being initiated by the Bahrain Young Ladies Association as part of a scheme to provide families with skills to develop independent livelihood.
Alba human resources and public relations manager, Shaikh Bader bin Rashid Al Khalifa, presented the cheque to the BYLA chairwoman Latifa Albonada who was accompanied by association treasurer Tahira Sharif.
"We believe we can improve the living standards by teaching vital skills," Albonada said. "We are working on a number of long-term projects to provide economically-disadvantaged families with skills to help them become independent by recognising and making the most of their own capabilities," she said. "As a non-profit organisation we appreciate the example Alba is setting by supporting our work and playing an active part in society," she added.
Shaikh Bader said the contribution was in line with Alba's long-standing commitment to supporting the local community.
"Alba recognises the importance of our role in the local community. We are pleased to be able to support organisations offering direct and efficient help to those Bahrainis whose needs are most acute. Alba is involved in the training and creation of employment opportunities for young Bahrainis, which are reflected in the BYLA' s activities."
