Abu Dhabi, Mar 26th, 2013 (WAM) -- The .ae Domain Administration (.aeDA), a subsidiary of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has successfully attained the accreditation ISO 27001, an international standard certificate that specifies the management of Information Security.

"Information security underpins the effectiveness of government institutions and the viability of its systems," said Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, Director General of the TRA.

"Information is simply the lifeblood of any well-functioning organization and its protection is a key priority. With .aeDA gaining this accreditation it demonstrates that the security of the UAE?s information is in good hands. The TRA and all its subsidiary bodies continually strive to advance its security systems and gaining this accreditation represents just one of the rafts of measures in place to ensure the UAE maintains its competitive edge. The ISO 27001 Information Security Management System accreditation comes as fantastic news and the expertise and knowledge gained will prove invaluable as the UAE navigates its way through the increasingly globalized digital economy," he added.

The ISO 27001 accreditation specifies the management of Information Security. ISO 27001 is part of the ISO 27000 series of international standards that have been developed to provide a framework around which information security management systems can be effectively implemented. Gaining such an accreditation officially demonstrates that information security procedures have been effectively addressed and implemented. The ISO 27001 accreditation comes as part of .aeDA?s commitment to establish a management system and operate a domain name registry service that meets international best practices and standards.
