The Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADCM) has extended the deadline to buy the auction documents for building and operating festivity halls at Mohammed bin Zayed City, Al Rahba City and Khalifa City (B), in Abu Dhabi.

The deadline for documents purchase (196/2013) has been extended to 20 February from 16 January, 2014.

"The closing date for submission of auction documents is 4 March, 2014," an ADCM official told Zawya.

No reason for the extension was provided.

The earlier closing date for submitting documents was 4 February, 2014.

The auction documents are available for a non-refundable tender fee of AED 4,000 from the procurement division at ADCM.

Only 100 percent national firms and establishments specialized in investments and property development can participate in the auction.

The three new wedding halls, when completed in 2015, will collectively host an average of 165 weddings each year, according to a media report earlier in February, 2014.

About 13,500 square meters of land will be made available to the selected developers under a 30-year musataha agreement with the municipality, the ADCM's Investment Office was quoted as saying by the English daily Gulf News.

In the second phase of development, the municipality will launch another tender in 2015 for two more wedding halls that will be located in Baniyas and Shamkha suburbs, added the report.

Currently, the municipality manages three wedding halls located in Al Mushrif, Al Wathba and Al Shahama.
