Under the auspices of Sharjah Petroleum Council (SPC), Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) and Uniper SE today have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) targeting the importation of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) into the Port of Hamriyah in the Emirate of Sharjah in the UAE.

First gas deliveries should arrive into Sharjah in the spring of 2018. Gas will flow to the Sajaa gas field complex and then into the existing pipeline network throughout the Northern Emirates. The natural gas will be marketed to existing gas consumers in the region and new business seeking a reliable long term supply of energy.

Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Sharjah Petroleum Council, Deputy Chairman and Sharjah National Oil Corporation President commented “We highly value this project which will add to the supply of gas in Sharjah and Northern Emirates to meet the growing demand for energy. The combination of SNOC and Uniper efforts with all their capabilities and experience in natural gas activities will achieve the planned targets”.

SNOC is the National Oil Corporation of the Emirate of Sharjah incorporated by Amiri Degree to own, explore, develop, and operate the existing gas fields including all associated plant and pipelines.

SNOC is authorized to conduct business in the area of oil and gas at home and abroad. That includes forming Subsidiaries / Joint Venture to pursue Oil and Gas project. SNOC owns the designated loading jetty at Hamriyah port and associated pipelines which will be used for LNG import.
