Qatar Airways announced on Sunday that it will resume flights to Sharjah starting July 1, 2021.

The daily service will be operated by the carrier’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner and will be the latest commercial flight to be reinstated by the Gulf carrier after the restoration of ties between Qatar and the UAE.

In a statement, Qatar Airways said that its flight QR1036 will depart from Hamad International Airport at 2:35 p.m. and arrive in Sharjah at 4:45 p.m.

The return flight will depart from Sharjah at 5:55 p.m. and arrive in Doha at 6:05 p.m.

“The resumption of services will enable passengers flying from and to Sharjah to benefit from the airline’s extensive international network in Asia, Africa, Australia and the Americas,” Qatar Airways said. “Sharjah will be an alternative gateway for passengers to and from other cities, especially Dubai in the UAE.”

The airline’s network covers more than 130 destinations. It plans to increase to more than 1,200 flights to over 140 airports by the end of July.

The UAE and other Gulf countries had severed ties with Qatar in 2017. The ties were restored following the lifting of the Gulf blockade last January.
