Dubai – In line with the ongoing massive winter campaign that aims to highlight the UAE’s hidden gems, the #WorldsCoolestWinterChallenge was launched in collaboration with du, from Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC), to encourage the public to share their outdoor experiences in UAE on social media for a chance to win big prizes.

Citizens and residents now have the opportunity to post creative images or short videos of no longer than 1 minute about their winter activities across the UAE on Instagram and Twitter using the #WorldsCoolestWinterChallenge.

The challenge, launched in collaboration between du and the UAE Government Media Office, aims to capture the UAE’s major attractions and lifestyle from the eyes of the public.

The #WorldsCoolestWinterChallenge, which will run in two phases from December 15, 2020 to January 25, 2021, will reward the posts that best capture the charm of touristic, natural and cultural landmarks across the UAE.

The first phase will reward two posts weekly with cash prizes worth Dh25,000 each for four weeks starting from December 15, 2020 until January 14, 2021, while the second phase will offer two grand cash prizes worth Dh50,000 each over 10 days starting from January 15 to January 25, 2021.

At the end of the challenge, du will publish the stories of the winners, along with the journey that inspired their submissions.

The social media challenge supports ‘World’s Coolest Winter’ campaign, which was launched under the new UAE Strategy for Domestic Tourism on Saturday, to encourage the public to enjoy the season’s pleasant climate in embarking on different adventures across the UAE’s unique attractions. ‘World’s Coolest Winter’ campaign is led by the Ministry of Economy, in collaboration with local tourism entities, and supported by UAE Government Media Office.

Fahad Al Hassawi, Acting CEO, du, said: “In light of our national responsibility to be an integral part of the UAE society, du is always keen to actively participate in various initiatives aimed at enhancing the nation’s distinguished reputation as a global destination to live in for work and tourism. Through launching #WorldsCoolestWinterChallenge, we empower the public to tell their own stories and reflect the UAE from their own unique perspectives. We invite them to embark on adventures this winter, enjoy the UAE’s nature and discover the hidden gems.”

He added, “The challenge aims to reflect and celebrate the UAE’s diversity, while uniting the community towards enjoying this winter and spreading a positive vibe as we get ready to welcome the new year.”

The challenge aims to reward creative expression and encourage UAE citizens and residents to enjoy this year’s extraordinary winter climate through leading active lifestyles in the desert, beaches and mountains.
