Saudi Al-Baha tourism documentary wins gold at Cairo festival

RIYADH - A documentary about the rich heritage of Al-Baha tourism has won a top award at the Cairo Radio and Television Festival.

The Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) documentary, Al Baha Tourism 37, won gold at the festival held in Cairo from Nov. 6 to Nov. 10.

Zahir bin Mohamed Al-Shehri, the director general of the SCTH branch in Al-Baha and secretary-general of the Al-Baha Tourism Development Council (TDC), said the award was the outcome of the efforts of the Talent Development Company (TDC).

“The SCTH, Al-Baha branch, and the TDC made a distinguished effort with the Mufid Media Co. and the director of the documentary film, and the joint work has now been appreciated with the gold,” he said.

He said that the preparation of the screenplay was done with three themes in mind: Al-Baha’s participation in Vision 2030, the charm of Al-Baha and the presentation of its urban heritage, monuments, heritage villages, museums and forts.

“These themes combined well in the documentary presentation and won it the gold award,” Al-Shehri said.

He said the area’s beautiful landscape attracted tourists and vacationers from throughout the Kingdom and Gulf countries.

Al-Shehri praised the efforts of Al-Baha Governor Prince Husam bin Saud, who is the chairman of the Al-Baha Tourism Development Council, for his support for tourism services in the region under the attention of SCTH President Prince Sultan bin Salman.

The Kingdom is witnessing unprecedented attention of its national heritage with the support of King Salman under the umbrella of the Program for Caring for Cultural Heritage.
