DUBAI- H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance, and Chairman of the General Pensions and Social Security Authority, GPSSA, honoured the longest-serving pensioners in service of the UAE, during a ceremony held on Tuesday at the Etihad Museum in Dubai.

During the ceremony, Sheikh Hamdan expressed his sincerest gratitude and appreciation for the dedicated efforts of the UAE nationals who have contributed to the prominent standings attained by the nation in various global competitiveness reports. He added that these large-scale efforts remain a source of both pride and honour for our wise leadership, which pays to the UAE citizen considerable attention and care as the most important pillar of development, and the most reliable assets towards building the nation's present and future.

He added, "While we celebrate today, our fellow pensioners, who have provided the homeland with great service for over 40 years, we strongly believe that the spirit of giving is an inherent feature of our noble people, who have been raised to love and be loyal to the homeland inspired by the highbred values of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who succeeded in building a modern state that respects the values of human civilisation, preserves its achievements and supports its pillars based on tolerance, coexistence and brotherhood among all, thus enabling the UAE to win respect of the whole world.""The government's efforts towards building a UAE national who is capable of serving his homeland do not only take into consideration the age criterion but also depend on efficiency and ability to achieve and innovate," he continued, adding that the nation provides its citizens, throughout all stages of education and career spans, with opportunities to qualify them as future leaders.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid praised the well-thought-out visions of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and The Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to empower the nation and its citizens with a focus on enhancing the UAE's economic competitiveness by investing in knowledge, and establishing federal government bodies to ensure efficient performance, whilst providing an environment that encourages national human cadres to create and innovate, as well as assuring gender equality across all sectors.

He asserted that thanks to these policies, our government has taken extraordinary steps that corroborated the UAE's reputation and standing as a global economic, cultural, humanitarian and cultural force that is open to all cultures and civilisations without limits or restrictions.

During the ceremony, Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid awarded Memorial Shields to 52 pensioners in expression of gratitude and appreciation for the faithful and noble services they provided to the homeland.
