Gulf-bound passengers are stranded in Turkey after an Oman Air flight made an emergency landing on Sunday due to an issue with cabin pressure, it has been confirmed.

The flight, WY 154, was traveling from Zurich to Muscat when the plane developed a “cabin pressurization fault”.

“This required our aircraft to take a precautionary landing at Diyarbakir, Turkey, which was completed safely,” the airline said in a statement sent to Zawya.

Oman Air assured that the passengers are currently being accommodated in local hotels in Turkey, while a replacement aircraft has yet to arrive.

The airline will deploy the replacement aircraft to Diyarbakir, Turkey at 8pm (local time) to repatriate the delayed passengers to Muscat.

“Oman Air regrets any inconvenience this may have caused. The safety and welfare of our guests and crew is our top priority,” the airline said.

Just last week, a Pegasus Airlines Boeing 737 skidded off the runway at Turkey’s Sabiha Gokcen airport while attempting to land in bad weather. Most of the 183 passengers and crew survived.
