Muscat: Plans are underway to build a new mountain-climbing via ferrata route in Oman’s northern governorate in Musandam, and companies that specialise in setting up such activities are being invited to bid for it through tenders.
The setting up of this via ferrata is being done by Omran, the Sultanate’s tourism development organisation, and tenders that meet the specifications laid out by the company need to be submitted to it before Tuesday, February 4, 2020.
Tender submissions are required to include a plan for the “design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the via ferrata for different skill levels with options to expand in future. There are three proposed routes with multiple levels of skills indicated in the preliminary design: Easy routes with good foot holds and easy hand placements, plus one moderate five wire bridge with sections where strength and some skills are required, as well as a zip line across the wadi and Tyrolean traverse.”
“The selected contractor shall be responsible for the technical review during construction and should be considered as a turnkey solution to the employer,” added Omran. “Contractors with previous experience of supply and installation of via ferratas and similar work are welcome to apply.”
All bidders are required to submit their tender, compliant with the tender document instructions to the Omran tender box in the reception area of the Omran office (Madinat Al Irfan) before 10:00 am on the last date for submission addressed to: Chairman of Tender Committee, PO Box 991, PC 130, Al Athaiba, Sultanate of Oman, Tel: + 968 24 391 111, Fax: + 968 24 391 112.
