Dubai: World HSE Week 2019 Conference launches today at the Roda Al Murooj, Dubai, UAE. The leading event is organized by Verve Management UAE and will be held on the 10 – 11 April 2019 with participation of local and international top HSE experts from the Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals and Power & Energy industry to exchange ideas, to discuss current challenges and strategies to the HSE sector.

The main theme of the event is the importance of HSE and its future, Bruce Basaraba (Head Of HSSE, Dana Gas) states “The UAE is seeing a transformation amongst many companies in maturity of their HSE culture, from that of being dependent and reactive to a far more proactive approach with intent on prevention and education to reduce the occurrence of lost time injuries” echoed by Wael Amin (Head of HSE, Kuwait Energy Egypt), “Safety culture does not happen by accident,  it is deeply held assumptions and values developed over time. It is well possible to have a good safety culture without having a formal safety management system, but it is not possible to have an effective safety management system without having a good safety culture.”

Also agreeing with Bruce and Wael is Fatima Ahmed Alkadhim (Chief SHEngineering Officer, SEWA) “Lights have been shed on the topic Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) ever since the Industrial Revolution. This is because numerous detrimental matters occurred as a result of inadequate, SHE Management. The lessons learned from the past revolutionize the way we work today. And we are now confident that SHE is not only about our lives but about the sustainability of tomorrow”.

“In Petronas, we are embarking on the Generative HSSE Culture journey where we emphasize on 3 focused areas i.e. HSSE is good business, building psychological safety & conscious risk awareness. We focus on the importance of leaders to role model good HSSE behaviour, being open to truthful feedback and engaging authentically.” said Mohamed Amin Abdullah , Group HSSE, Petronas.

The event garnered a lot of support from the industry including 3M, Tactise amongst others.
