Dubai – The Smart Dubai Office (SDO) has signed an agreement at its Dubai headquarters with ICT and technology solutions company 2GIS to improve maps and navigation on its flagship Dubai Now application.

The SDO’s Director General Her Excellency Dr Aisha Bint Butti Bin Bishr signed the contract on behalf of the Office, while Konstantin Sobolev, CEO of 2GIS, represented his tech firm.

His Excellency Wesam Lootah, CEO of the Smart Dubai Government Establishment (SDG), said: “Smart Dubai is constantly working to perfect its services and, in this case, we sought to make the all-encompassing Dubai Now more accessible and convenient for our users. This, in turn, will bring us one step closer to realising the Smart Dubai 2021 Strategy and transform Dubai into the smartest and happiest city in the world – a city that exceeds international standards, improves best practices, and reflects the aspirations of Dubai’s wise leadership.”

For his part, Konstantin Sobolev said: “We are delighted to be working alongside Smart Dubai, and to be a part of this great mission to make Dubai the smartest and happiest city in the world. Through this collaboration, we look forward to playing a role in improving Dubai residents’ experience, and we will use 2GIS’s expertise in developing guides, city maps and navigation systems to help Smart Dubai deliver the best possible services and solutions to citizens, residents and tourists in Dubai.”

The Dubai Now application is a one-stop shop allowing the city’s residents to access a wide range of services catering to all their needs. Among its many features, the app’s main interface allows users to access the business and employment directory, as well as a map showing government departments, restaurants, pharmacies, shopping malls, healthcare facilities, beauty centres, car service shops, entertainment centres, ATMs, and many more.
