• Global conference of mental health professionals to be held from 19 to 25 March 2022 in Dubai
  • Dubai is first Arab city to host the prestigious biannual world congress

Government of Dubai Media Office: The International Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists and Allied Professionals (IACAPAP), in collaboration with Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital (AJCH), has launched the logo for its 25th World Congress set to be held from 19 to 25 March 2022 in Dubai.

To be held under the theme of ‘Child and Adolescent Mental Health: Shaping the Future’, IACAPAP 2022 Dubai will provide a platform for discussing the world’s latest research, exploring the current mental health challenges of children and adolescents and highlighting new cutting-edge tools for improving mental health.

IACAPAP, a professional association of mental health experts from all over the world, held its first global congress in 1936. The 25th World Congress in Dubai will be the first time the prestigious biannual world congress is being held in an Arab city.

Dubai was chosen as the host city for the Congress since it provides the ideal venue for discussing and incubating new ideas and initiatives. The colours and design elements of the new Congress logo reflect the vibrancy, tolerance and multiculturalism of Dubai.

The Congress will be hosted by the Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital (AJCH), the only children’s hospital in the UAE, and the Emirates Society of Child and Adolescent Mental Health (ESCAM), a professional society of child and adolescent psychiatrists and mental health professionals established under the  umbrella of the Emirates Medical Association (EMA) that aims to advance clinical services, research and education in the field in the UAE.

Dr Mohammed Al Awadhi, COO, AJCH, said: “We are delighted at the launch of the IACAPAP 2022 Dubai identity. Being held for the first time in Dubai, the Congress reflects the significant progress we have made in the field of mental health in the UAE. Hosting this conference is set to significantly enhance the mental health practice in the country and the role of professionals in the field in enhancing the wellbeing of the community.”

Dr. Daniel Fung, President, IACAPAP, said: “The needs and demands of children and young people are evolving with the onset of globalisation, which has accelerated in the new technology and media age. The mental health of children needs to be addressed by a diverse set of professionals. The IACAPAP World Congress brings all this together, addressing the mental health challenges of the next generation and the caretakers of these challenges, and advocating for promoting the mental health and development of children and adolescents through policy, practice and research.”

As a  global meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibition (MICE) hub, Dubai will support the IACAPAP World Congress’s objective of bringing together professionals from across the world by virtue of its world-leading conferences and events infrastructure and hospitality offerings, as well as its exceptional global connectivity.

Dubai and the UAE represent the ideal venue for the Congress not only because the country’s places people, including children and their families at the centre of its national programme for wellbeing, but also because it is one of the world’s leading technology and start-up hubs.

Registration for IACAPAP 2022 Dubai and the submission of abstracts and research will open nine months prior to the Congress. For more information, please visit www.iacapap2022.com
