Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world's largest district cooling services provider, stated that it has succeeded in achieving a significant decrease in district cooling energy consumption as a result of the annual summer campaign, which was launched by the company among its customers to rationalize cooling energy consumption, in the middle of this year for 3 months under the theme ‘Set & Save 24°C’.

The campaign relied on innovative methods to reduce temperature inside homes using environmentally friendly solutions, reducing monthly costs, as well as tips and guidelines that contribute to reducing energy consumption during the summer period.

Empower highlighted that company’s more than 140,000 customers were inspired by the campaign, to reduce their district cooling energy consumption, and to save in their consumption bills.

Empower stressed that these impressive results would not have been achieved without the interaction and response of the more than 140,000 customers in residential and commercial buildings. Empower appreciated the customers who showed a high sense of responsibility towards the city by responding to the campaign, and applied the energy saving tips that enable customers to effectively contribute to reducing consumption and temperatures inside buildings of all kinds through environmentally friendly practices. The campaign aims at reducing customer bills, contributing to preserving the environment, saving energy, and protecting resources in order to achieve sustainable development goals, the company said.

Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, said: "Empower will not content itself with this qualitative achievement in reducing cooling energy consumption, but will also seek to go beyond it by working closely with customers in order for these environmentally-friendly practices to be a part of their culture to protect resources. The objectives of the summer campaign form part of Empower's plans that support the Dubai government’s strategies in managing energy efficiency, including the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, which aims to transform the Emirate into a global hub for clean energy and green economy, and promote its position to become the city with the lowest carbon footprint in the world.”

Bin Shafar added: "District cooling systems confirm, day after day, their effectiveness in reducing energy consumption, as they save up to 50% of energy compared to traditional cooling systems, and Empower is striving to upgrade and develop district cooling technologies in accordance with international best practices, which in turn contribute to reducing energy consumption and providing environmentally-friendly and efficient cooling services.”
