Emirates Global Aluminium’s wholly owned bauxite mining and export subsidiary, Guinea Alumina Corporation (GAC) has awarded a mining contract worth $34 million to a Guinean firm, Guinéenne de Prestation et de Construction.

Under the contract, the company, which has provided civil engineering services to GAC since 2020, will mine, and crush bauxite ore, and transport it to GAC’s railhead.

EGA aims to double its contribution to the economy in the countries where it operates – the United Arab Emirates and Guinea – by 2040, it said in a statement.
