CAIRO- The lowest offer presented at an Egyptian state tender for wheat was $235.93 per tonne for 60,000 tonnes of French wheat on a free on board (FOB) basis, traders said on Wednesday.

The offer was presented by Soufflet.

Offers for U.S. soft red and hard red wheat, as well as newly allowed Serbian wheat, were absent at the tender.

Egypt's state grains buyer, the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC), is seeking an unspecified quantity of wheat for shipment on April 5-15.

Euronext wheat extended a slight fall to hit a new seven-month low, while Chicago wheat Wv1 eased as traders awaited the outcome of the Egyptian tender to see if a price slide since last week would stir fresh demand.

"The recent fall in Russian prices will have helped. U.S. supplies still have a lot to do to achieve competitiveness, as the lack of U.S. offers shows," a European trader said.

At its last purchase tender for wheat on Feb. 8, GASC bought 300,000 tonnes including 120,000 tonnes of U.S. soft red wheat, 120,000 tonnes of French wheat, and 60,000 tonnes from Ukraine.
