Floating wheels and anchors for the elderly and people with disabilities have been introduced on two Abu Dhabi beaches for them to enjoy the waters.

The Abu Dhabi City Municipality said on Sunday that it has provided four floating wheels on Corniche Beach while two floating wheels have been placed on Al Bateen Beach. The move seeks to allow people who experience mobility difficulties to enjoy their beach experience.

"As active members of society, people of determination deserve to be provided with the facilities that increase their access to services," said a municipal official.

"These floating wheels provide security and safety requirements for people of determination while practising swimming and enjoying the beach water."

The municipality has also completed the rehabilitation of 30 game sites, including nine play areas at the Abu Dhabi Corniche, including four play areas serving the people of determination. "The facilities designed to suit the needs of the disabled people have been introduced at the beaches and public parks so that these people can also enjoy the sea water and live beautiful moments full of fun and happiness," said the official.

The municipality said it has also completed the establishment of 10 walkways dedicated to the people of determination at Abu Dhabi beaches. Two walks are on Al Bateen public beach and Al Bateen ladies beach while eight walkways were constructed on Corniche beach.

They can also use the seats allocated for them, and have fun and entertainment.
