DUBAI - The Dubai Health Authority, DHA, signed on Tuesday a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the Dubai Healthcare City Authority, DHCA, to strengthen cooperation in various medical fields including insurance, transfer of permits of health professionals, education, medical training and research.

The MoU was signed at the DHA headquarters by Humaid Al Qutami, Director-General of the DHA, and Jamal Abdulsalam, CEO of DHCA, in the presence of senior officials from both sides.

The collaboration will include coordination in the field of health insurance; developing health services provided by both parties and seeking to standardise and facilitate the procedures of authorisation or transfer of permits of health professionals in the Emirate of Dubai in accordance with the provisions of the applicable legislation; and cooperation in the field of permit mechanisms, inspection of health facilities, medical complaints, exchange of expertise and training in this field.

The MoU also stipulates strengthening the relationship and integrating roles between the two parties to contribute to the development of the fields of education, medical training, research, medical residency programmes, fellowship programmes and clinical training; as well as coordination in the fields of therapeutic, diagnostic, preventive and public health medicine.

Al Qutami said that DHA is working continuously to further strengthen the health sector in the Emirate and that the DHA is keen to foster relationships with local and international healthcare organisations as it recognises the importance of knowledge-transfer and sharing experiences which is particularly important in the health sector with an aim to provide the highest quality of patient-centred care.

He also highlighted the important role played by the DHCA as a distinctive authority for specialised free zones.

Abdulsalam, in turn, said, "We are constantly improving the quality, upgrading and regulating healthcare services in the free zone to meet the needs of the public and the needs of patients who are always seeking innovative and high quality healthcare. Through this strategic partnership with the DHA, the DHCA is keen to cooperate and facilitate knowledge-transfer. We are keen to harness our expertise to serve the health sector, to benefit of the communities we serve."
