The Specialized Criminal Court in Riyadh on Sunday sentenced a Saudi to 20 years in prison for adopting takfiri ideology, accusing the government and General Investigation Department (GID) staff of infidelity, and supporting Daesh.
He was also convicted of agreeing to target GID security forces on orders from Daesh leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, and searching for weapons for this purpose.
The charges included his knowledge that another terror suspect had received weapons, and not reporting to police that others had adopted the deviant takfiri approach and supported Daesh.
The charges also included joining a pro-Daesh group, posting tweets supporting the terrorist organization, and insulting the Kingdom and its rulers.
He was found guilty of storing pictures of Daesh slogans and leaders of terrorist organizations, and a video of a masked person in a conflict area on his mobile phone.
His sentence started from the date of his arrest. His social media accounts have been closed, and his mobile phone confiscated.
He is banned from traveling outside the country for 20 years after his release from prison, and from using the Internet.
