Cairo – Mubasher: Empower for new and renewable energy has announced that the sale of the electricity generated from waste to farms was set to begin in September.

The company has closed an agreement to sell 800 kilowatts of electricity to a farm, Empower’s chairman Hatem El Gamal told Mubasher.

The top official revealed that the electricity price would reach EGP 2 per kilowatt, noting that his company was targeting agreements with 36 farms in the coming period.

Empower is planning to increase its investments in local market to $250 billion (EGP 4.175 billion) to construct a group of waste-to-energy power plants, El Gamal said.

In February, Empower won a contract to build a waste-to-energy plant with a total capacity of up to 1 megawatts and EGP 94 million in investments in New Nubariya city, Beheira governorate.
