Cairo –  The Egyptian Minister of Local Development, Mahmoud Shaarawy, said that the country spent EGP 21 billion on building and upgrading roads and bridges, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported on Monday.

The country invested in paving and improving roads with lengths of 6,000 kilometres and building 75 bridges and pedestrian overpasses, Shaarawy added.

These bridges and roads improved traffic movements for about 25 million citizens, he noted.

Moreover, the country also invested EGP 15 billion in the street cleanliness and environment protection programme.
