Dubai: RSG Group of Companies has awarded a contract to UAE-based Al Habbai Contracting to build a hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road at a value of AED 500 million ($136 million).

The five-star property will be named Sabah Rotana and will comprise 54 floors. It is expected that the hotel will be completed in the coming two and a half years, before Expo 2020 starts.

“It was tough to finalise the main contractor, because his team required an outfit that delivered the same level of passion and commitment towards Sabah Rotana,” Construction Week Online reported, citing RSG chairman and founder Raj Sahni as saying.

The hotel's design will include tapered sides to add “a layered dimension” to the building, hotel apartments, and asymmetrical balconies.

Sabah Rotana will comprise various hospitality facilities, meeting rooms, and food and beverages outlets.

“[This contract] will serve as an incentive going forward as we strive to not only achieve but surpass [RSG’s] expectations,” Al Habbai Contracting CEO Ali Al Habbai noted.
