Smart Dubai concluded its active participation in GITEX Technology Week 2017, which was held at the Dubai World Trade Center from October 8 to 12. At the event, Smart Dubai briefed decision makers, professionals and the public on its various initiatives and projects for transforming Dubai into the smartest city in the world.

The Smart Dubai Platform witnessed the participation of 42 government Entities under its umbrella that showcase more than 200 intelligent government services. Marking the conclusion of its participation, Smart Dubai honoured the government and private entities.

Smart Dubai launched the first-of-its kind initiative in the world - the Smart Decision-Making Platform, which enables the public to test the experience of live data analysis from various government and private sector entities in the city.

Smart Dubai’s participation in the event led to promising results in various fields. It signed five cooperation and partnership agreements with various entities. The pavilion also welcomed dozens of local and international delegations to learn about Smart's Dubai experiences and projects as well as best practices. More than 13 presentations were held discussing the methodologies and mechanisms of the intelligent transformation of Dubai and the frameworks to promote the happiness of all individuals.

"Our participation in GITEX Technology Week 2017 has been a remarkable success and we reviewed the developments of our projects and services in leading the smart transformation of Dubai under the guidance of the wise leadership and to achieve the objectives of the Smart Dubai 2021 Plan," said Her Excellency Dr. Aisha Bint Butti Bin Bishr, Director-General of the Smart Dubai Office (SDO). “GITEX 2017 serves as an important global platform for us by bringing together a number of decision-makers and those associated with building smart cities and developing their infrastructure in all fields."

"This year, we provided visitors with a real experience to see the future of Smart Dubai's transformation through the ‘Smart Decision-Making Platform.’ With this, Dubai becomes the first city in the world to share data directly with the people and give them the opportunity to plan for years to come. This is in line with the goal of the Smart Dubai Strategy is to make Dubai the smartest and happiest city in the world,” she added.

Plans and strategies

Through its participation, Smart Dubai reviewed the objectives of the Smart Dubai Plan 2021, which focuses on the development and support to six objectives: smart mobility, smart environment, smart governance, smart society, smart economy and smart living.

Smart Dubai discussed the developments and achievements of the happiness agenda that it manages with the goal of measuring the happiness of the people and influencing them positively through a scientific framework and through the use of technology in providing services to satisfy people and meet their needs, especially the basic, emotional, empowerment and knowledge and self-development needs.

Projects and systems

Smart Dubai presented a detailed presentation on the ‘Dubai Pulse’ platform, which includes all government data and employs Artificial Intelligence capabilities to achieve the well-being and happiness of people. It aims to enhance operational efficiency by reducing

data access costs and facilitating its exchange between the public and private sectors and the individuals.

Smart Dubai also presented a detailed overview of the Dubai Blockchain Strategy, which forms the Dubai Digital Transaction Strategy and establishes Dubai as the first government in the world to implement all applicable transactions through this future network.

Smart Dubai shed light on Rashid Service, which demonstrates the impactful role that Artificial Intelligence plays, and represents a quantum leap in the region in the field of smart services. Smart Dubai seeks to leverage Artificial Intelligence to streamline government operations and provide official and reliable answers to questions from aspiring entrepreneurs looking to launch a business in Dubai or invest in start-ups.

Smart Services

In the field of services, Smart Dubai highlighted its Smart Services initiative that enhances the smart transformation of the city and includes a list of services and initiatives. It presented the ‘Dubai Now’ platform, a unified and comprehensive portal that provides government services round the clock.

Dubai Now serves as a one-stop hub for vital government services, while providing an easy and innovative experience for customers. Smart Dubai also presented the Dubai Careers initiative, which allows job seekers from the UAE and around the world to view the career opportunities available at government entities in Dubai.

Another highlight was the Smart Employee application, designed to serve Dubai Government employees. The programme provides a list of services and an e-Pay portal that supports e-payment mechanisms for business and private sector customers.

Also on the spotlight is Dubai ID, which provides an infrastructure and common services to government entities to help them provide smooth access to the public 24 hours a day.

Other services include the GRPS initiative, an integrated system of centralised technical solutions offered by Smart Dubai to all government entities in Dubai to manage all key internal government processes; and GSB, a unified and secure service integration platform that aims to provide a common infrastructure to enable government departments to perform service integrations, and provide a range of common services such as data exchange, information security and user identity assurance.
