Strategy established by Sharjah Directorate of Town Planning & Survey

UAE - The future of Sharjah cannot be left to chance. It will depend upon intelligent planning, where the needs of the whole community will be the central focus of decisions.

This is the purpose of the Sharjah Urban Planning Council (SUPC) according to its Chairman, Sheikh Khalid Bin Sultan Al Qasimi.

He emphasised that the growth and future sustainability of Sharjah will depend upon meticulous and systematic planning.

Projects supervised by the Council, he added, will follow best planning practices and will contribute to comprehensive urban planning and infrastructure improvements.
 
Sheikh Khalid was addressing a meeting, held in the Council headquarters, where the "Strategic Plan" by the Department of Planning and Survey in the emirate of Sharjah was introduced by His Excellency Engineer Khalid Bin Butti, Director of Planning and Survey Department.

The Plan includes a general outline of community services, infrastructure developments and community services in the emirate.

Vital sanitation projects were also discussed, as were several proposals aimed at developing and improving the drainage network in the emirate, to enhance efficiency in accordance with international best practices.

HE Engineer Khalid Mohammed Al Ali, Sharjah Urban Planning Council Secretary General, said;
"This meeting is a demonstration of our willingness to consult with all concerned departments in order to develop proposals that will make the most of local and international best practices. 

We aim to develop an overall urban strategy to ensure that the infrastructure will match the accelerated pace of economic growth and urbanisation in Sharjah.
 
We have discussed many important projects which will enhance Sharjah's status as an attractive economic, cultural and social destination.

This is completely in line with the wishes of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who is keen to maintain the progress made in recent years."

The meeting, held at the headquarters of the Council, was attended by the members:
HE Dr. Engineer Rashid Al Leem, Sharjah Water and Electricity Authority chairman, HE Engineer Salah Bin Butti Al Muhairi, Directorate of Town Planning & Survey, HE Engineer Yousef bin Saleh Al Sueiji, Roads and Transport Authority Chairman, and HE Engineer Khalid Mohammed Al Ali, Sharjah Urban Planning Council Secretary General.
