Several private institutions and companies have started registering for vaccines with the Ministry of Health (MoH) as the part of the national immunization drive.

As per the MoH guidelines, the companies that do not have their own clinics and healthcare facilities can contract with the MoH or private institutions for the vaccination programme.

While the vaccines will be administered for free by MoH, the private hospitals will be charging RO3 per dose.

It may be noted that Pfizer Company has set a price of RO20 per dose, including vaccine, solution, and injection.

“We have already registered through the link provided by MoH, which includes a list of private hospitals in various governorates,” said Mustafa, an engineer with a leading construction company.

A senior official at CMA told the Observer, “The circular was issued by to companies on starting the process, and that MoH will continue to be the nodal point for vaccines.”

Speaking to the Observer, all private companies confirmed they had started the process of vaccination.

The government has said that more than one million doses of vaccines will be received in June. The number of vaccinated people will reach 1.5 million by the end of June, including new target groups.

The committee said that the target groups include those over the age of 45, pilgrims, citizens of Musandam Governorate, frontline staff including health workers and employees in government institutions, Royal Oman Police, Sultan’s Armed Forces, higher education institutions, educational staff, and Grade 12 students in schools, employees of vital sectors such as oil and gas sector, ports, airports, and private sector institutions.

The team explained that the deployment of vaccines would take place through the opening of vaccination centres in all governorates of the Sultanate, including the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center, which is currently being prepared for this purpose, sports complexes in the Governorate of Muscat, and schools and sports complexes in other governorates.

The committee pointed to the formation of mobile teams to immunize all workers in government institutions and provide Covid-19 vaccines to the private sector through clinics in large companies and in private health institutions licensed to administer the vaccine.
