Project marks the largest of its kind in the world
I.O. Systems has completed a project to provide and install 116 automated tray return systems (ATRS) at Dubai International Airport, in order to streamline the passenger experience. Carried out in partnership with Herbert Systems, Al Ahmadiah Contracting and Trading, this is the largest ATRS installation project of its kind and has enabled the airport to handle larger volumes of passengers with the same number of staff. Many airports within the region are now looking to upgrade their existing systems to realise the same benefits as Dubai International Airport.
The announcement comes as part of the Enterprise Ireland Trade Mission to the Gulf region led by Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD.
As a result of the project's success, I.O. Systems has been awarded a long-term contract to provide full maintenance of the ATRS systems and has also been engaged to identify future concepts that assist in taking the passenger experience forward over the next five to ten years.
The focus for airports globally is to enhance passenger experience making it as stress-free as possible, whilst implementing the highest security standards. A brand new product, the ATRS system has been developed to ensure it meets customer demands and previous systems have been semi-automatic making this the market leader.
Minister Bruton said: "At the heart of our Action Plan for Jobs is supporting more exporting companies to expand, grow their overseas sales and ultimately create jobs in Ireland. That is why we have put in place measures like doubling the number of trade missions, increasing the number of Enterprise Ireland staff in foreign markets and tax incentives to make it easier for companies to put boots on the ground and increase their sales. Today's announcement by I.O. Systems is a great example of what is possible for Irish companies overseas, and I wish them every success for the future".

Dubai Airport Operations Group have won an Operational Excellence Award for 'Biggest Contribution to Business Improvement' within the airport for the ATRS project and they were also put forward for the prestigious Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart Government Programme Award, winning 'Best Service Improvement Team'.
Founded in Ireland in 1995, I.O. Systems is a manufacturer of material handling equipment and a systems integrator of complex automated systems, providing hardware and software services, as well as delivering maintenance programmes.
