Participants laud and express admiration for Dubai's leading role as centre for maritime innovation

Dubai - Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) received positive response during its participation at this year's edition of the Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS). Organizers of the event along with the exhibitors and participants have lauded the Authority for providing Marine Craft Licensing services and issuing licenses on-the-spot for DIBS participants and expressed admiration for its commitment towards strengthening Dubai's position as a leading centre for maritime innovation.

DMCA's participation was met with high praise and recognition from decision makers and leaders in the maritime industry. The Authority is focusing on innovation in the maritime industry and showcased its latest range of innovative and modern products and services that have been developed to help better serve those working within the maritime environment. In addition, DMCA's new enhanced, high quality 24/7 services and procedures were well received by industry professionals. These new services fall in line with Dubai's Smart Government initiatives.

The Authority's stand continues to welcome an increasing number of yacht owners, maritime amateurs and professionals who are interested in learning more about the Marine Craft Licensing Services portfolio and the Maritime Craft Driving licensing services. This follows after Maritime Craft Driving licenses were made mandatory in January this year for all commercial and traditional dhow crew members. The stand is also throwing the spotlight on its 'Smart Maritime Services' through its latest maritime mobile applications, which offer creative ideas that can serve the vision and strategy in achieving sustainable development for the Maritime industry.

Visitors to the DMCA stand were also given free copies of the 'Dubai User Guide for Engine Driven Crafts,' an international guide available in both English and Arabic. The book is the world's only user guide in Arabic. Maritime Safety and Security is a prevalent theme for Dubai Maritime Authority at the show. The Authority is informing visitors and exhibitors on decisions and rules pertaining to speed limits, coastal anchoring areas for crafts and best practices when it comes to using any form of maritime transport.

Amer Ali, Executive Director, DMCA, said, "Our participation at this year's Dubai International Boat Show is focused on maritime innovation, which represents strategic significance in the ongoing efforts to transform Dubai into a global hub for maritime innovation. Our presence in the show has allowed us the opportunity to present the latest services and initiatives as well as our latest range of smart applications, which have been developed to help increase Dubai's competitive advantage as a leading global maritime centre. Our efforts fall in line with the vision and directive of H.E. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai."

Adel Kalantar, Director for Registration & Licensing, DMCA, concluded: "For the second year in a row and in collaboration with the Dubai International Boat Show 2015 organizers, the DMCA has been able to issue official permits for visiting yachts. This practice reinforces our belief in positioning this show on the global map for the Luxury Yacht and Boating industry. We are very pleased with the remarkable turnout, which only goes to show the high level of trust given to us by the decision makers, maritime pioneers and maritime sport fanatics. This trust is what pushes us towards releasing more unique creative initiatives in future series."

The DMCA's presence at DIBS 2015 is part of its continuing efforts to help increase awareness on the importance of maritime secure operations, environmental standards and safety guidelines--further stressing on the need for local Maritime clubs, public and private docks and ports to adhere and comply with these set standards and guidelines.
