Amman, Jordan – talabat Jordan, the country’s leading food and grocery delivery app, has announced that it is adding the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to its list of virtual charities      as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to initiatives working to end hunger.

To make it easier for their customers to support this good cause, talabat Jordan has created an option to instantly donate through their virtual charity platform. Users will now be able to donate to WFP directly from the app, with just a few taps on their phone, by searching ‘World Food Programme’.

Commenting on the agreement, Managing Director of talabat Jordan, Hala Siraj, said: “We are proud to add the World Food Programme to our list of charities, reaffirming our support for their work in the Kingdom. As a purpose-led company we aim to play an active role in raising awareness around important issues like food scarcity and hunger in our community.”

“In these challenging times, new and innovative partnerships are essential for the humanitarian community. We are therefore proud to have this collaboration with talabat Jordan as a new partner for WFP in Jordan, helping us support Jordanians and refugees at a time when many families are really in need” said Alberto Correia Mendes, Representative and Country Director for the World Food Programme in Jordan.

WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian agency promoting food security. Every year, the organization delivers billions of rations to areas afflicted by famine and conflict—a mission that earned it the Nobel Peace Prize in 2020. In 2021, talabat’s regional Ramadan meal drive raised funds for WFP operations throughout the Middle East, and talabat facilitated donations for WFP’s emergency response in Palestine and India.

The talabat app can be downloaded from the iOS App Store or Google Play Store. Customers can conveniently donate to local charities and NGOs using the in-app donation function.
