ABU DHABI - The opening of the 38th GITEX Technology Week has boosted local and international conviction that the UAE's ambition to be the world's number one smart service hub by 2021, is an ambition with a centralised mindset and a defined executive programme.

This exhibition, which is being attended by 4,000 governmental and private entities specialised in information technology, artificial intelligence and other technologies, is not only a platform to display the best innovations and practices in the digital and smart services, but also one that brings the public and the government together in a daily interaction to improve the decision-making process. This is the spirit of the UAE's leadership philosophy, which prioritises human and sustainable development, giving them due care and attention.

Have we, in the UAE, reached a new global level in the Index of eServices readiness and Intelligence? This question is still open, and for all those who have raised the question, they can find sufficient data for justified optimism; the speed and consistency of the implementation of the National Agenda and the UAE Vision 2021 confidently indicate that the clear objective is protected by a rigorous programme.

The UAE's recent participation in the Artificial Intelligence for Good Global Summit has been highly recognised by international experts, who have been briefed on the country's 'creative government innovations', that include new radical experiences around the world that help governments lead change in preparation for the future.

We, therefore, have the confidence and optimism that the UAE, which carries out such an ongoing programme on the path of innovation and creativity, is now qualified to make further progress with the determination and resolve of its leadership and with the participation of the public and private sector.

At the heart of the National Agenda and the UAE Vision 2021, a key position and function of the Information and Communications Technology sector as a main gateway to transforming technology into smart solutions and to pursue the prospects of Artificial Intelligence, which the government believes is key to supporting the future of a strong national economy.

We have today witnessed the launch of a new GITEX edition, and soon we will see the UAE rise to fifth place in the smart service readiness index, and in three years, leading internationally.

As His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, once said, "We will never stop."
