Muscat. Sustaining the momentum of creating more winning journeys for its customers, and adding more value to their lives, Sohar international has announced the new Sohar|Prize Scheme for the year 2021, with total prizes worth over OMR 2.25 Million, to be rewarded to more than 1,400 customers. The launch of the new scheme was announced at a press conference, held at the bank’s head office located at Waterfront, Muscat, in the presence of senior officials from the bank.

The event commenced with a recap video of the 2020 prize scheme, followed by the welcome speech from Mr. Khalil Al Hedaifi, Chief Retail Banking Officer at Sohar International. A new scheme animation led to a presentation on the bank’s Prize Scheme for year 2021. This was followed by a Q&A session with representatives of the press.

Emphasizing on the bank’s vision to become a world-class Omani services company that helps customers, community and people to prosper and grow, Mr. Khalil Al Hedaifi, said, “At Sohar International, we believe that as a responsible bank we must advocate the benefits of prudent saving habits among the people of Oman, which will help them to fulfil their dreams and aspirations. By maximizing the number of winners and prize values, the new prize scheme for the year 2021, brings winning closer to our accountholders more than ever. Furthermore, the scheme’s diverse eligibility criteria make regular saving an easy practice for individuals. Moving forward, we will continue to encourage our loyal and valued customers to commence their journey of savings by opening Sohar prize scheme account to dream big and win big.’’

Catering to all segment types, the new Scheme offers customers more draws, more chances, and more winners with the introduction of the newly added Salary Account Draws and beefing up the previous categories with more overall value in cash prizes.

The weekly draws under the scheme provide 10 customers bank-wide chances to win RO 500 each and 10 minor accounts to win RO 100 each. Eligibility to these weekly draws requires a minimum monthly average balance of OMR 100.

Under the monthly draws, two winners from the general segment bank wide, maintaining a minimum monthly average balance of OMR 100, will receive RO 25,000 each; and two winners from the wealth management segment, maintaining an average monthly balance of OMR 40,000, will also receive RO 25,000 each.

With the purpose of encouraging a monthly savings habit to secure a better financial future, Sohar | Prize Scheme 2021 will consist of a Monthly Salary Draw for the general segment, giving one lucky winner bank wide a chance to win a prize worth OMR 12,000. The requirement to enter this draw will be a minimum average balance of OMR 100 and a salary equal to RO 500. For the Sohar | First customer base, a total of OMR 5000 will be distributed equally among two customers, who have maintained an average monthly balance of RO 10,000 each.

The scheme will also offer Monthly Branch Draws offering two customers from each of the bank’s branches, with a minimum average balance of OMR 100 to win OMR 500 each per branch. In order to enhance the culture of saving among youth, Sohar | Prize Scheme 2021, also offers dedicated Monthly Youth Draws as they play a key role in building the future of Oman. A reward of RO 300 will be given away monthly to 10 youth customers each, saving a minimum average balance of OMR 100.

Under the Half-Yearly Draws, the Bank will be giving away OMR 200,000 distributed equally among two customers in the General segment and two customers from the Wealth Management segment; each will be getting the chance to win OMR 50,000. The grand prize of the year-end draw rewards a whopping RO 400,000 that will be distributed equally between four lucky winners, two from the General segment and two from the wealth management category. To be eligible in the Half-Yearly and Year-End Grand draws, customer from the general segment will need to maintain a minimum monthly average balance of OMR 100. As for the Wealth Management segment, customers will need to maintain an average monthly balance of OMR 40,000.

In addition to the weekly, monthly, half yearly, and year-end draws, the scheme will also provide customers with ‘Special Draws’ as part of honouring special occasions within the community. Sohar | Prize Scheme 2021 will host special draws to mark the 51th National Day of the Renaissance in November by giving a chance for 51 customers bank-wide to win OMR 1,000 each. While the other occasion draw will be conducted on the Omani Women’s Day, celebrated annually on 17th October, by offering 10 female customers bank-wide a chance to win equally from a total of OMR 10,000. 

All prize accounts will have four chances for every minimum average balance maintained in their accounts for any of the above draws, while Minor accounts will enjoy double of these chances as an effort from Sohar International to encourage adoption a saving culture and financial prudence from a young age. The Sohar I Prize Scheme 2021 is not exclusive for accounts in Omani Riyal only; saving accounts that are maintained in AED, GBP and USD are also eligible to participate in the Sohar | Prize Scheme 2021. For those seeking to save without participating in the prize draws, can instead choose the interest-bearing accounts.
