Muscat: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) said that as per Oman Vision 2040, it accords top priority to Musandam Governorate for sustainable tourism development.

The ministry said that the Governorate of Musandam attracted 250,000 tourists annually before the pandemic, besides 129,452 cruise ship visitors.

The governorate has 10 hotel facilities with 513 rooms of various types. The ministry seeks to increase the number of resorts and hotels under tourism projects that are compatible with the local environment. Around 10 land plots have been distributed for the establishment of tourism projects, and the usufruct right was signed for the establishment of three hotels in Bakha and Madha.

Some of the tourism projects to be established in the Musandam Governorate are:

    • The Adventure Centre project Omran: The first phase will have a zipline of ?1,500 meters at an altitude of 250 meters.
    • A visitor center project at the archaeological site of Dibba, which is one of the rare historical sites that were discovered recently. The project will include a museum.
    • Plans for various environmental tourism camps at different sites.
