Telecommunication service providers in the country, Etisalat and du, are not allowed to collect any fees for technical visits meant to fix weak or disrupted services, the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) has said.

"This includes all telecommunication services, including cell phones, landlines, and Internet connections," TRA said in a recent statement.

It is a must for both service providers to send the technical team needed and fix the network glitch as fast as possible, it added.

"No fees shall be collected against fixing network problems as customers have nothing to do with this."

The TRA has received several complaints from customers who experienced disruptions in telecommunication services.

"They complained that they were asked to pay for having this network disruption fixed though they had nothing to do with it."

They paid their bills but they couldn't use the service properly, they said.

"They were asked to pay Dh100 for the technical visit to have the problem fixed."
