Saudi courts issue 18,000 verdicts in a week

RIYADH — Courts all over the Kingdom held more than 52,000 sessions and issued about 18,000 verdicts last week, according to the Justice Ministry.

The ministry, in a statistical report released on Sunday, said the executive courts issued more than 11,000 decisions during the period.

It said the justice utilities provided more than 178,000 electronic services consisting of attestations and documentations.

According to the ministry, the number of operations in the general courts reached 91,927 while it was 21,964 in the executive courts.

The ministry said the operations related to the documentation of deeds and papers reached 64,510 last week.

Justice Minister Waleed Al-Samaani in November launched a program to digitize transactions at the ministry. He said all the courts in the Kingdom would go paperless.

Al-Samaani said the digitization of the courts would simplify litigation procedures and help judges and court officials to do their jobs easily. — SG
