Telecom Egypt connects fibre-optic cables to 1,413 villages

Egypt  - Telecom Egypt is working on connecting fiber-optic cables to 1,413 villages, as part of the company’s contribution to the “Decent Life” initiative for the development of the Egyptian countryside, Daily News cited Adel Hamed, Managing Director and CEO of Telecom Egyp, on September 1^st.

The Egyptian government plans to develop the information infrastructure and ensure the access of high-speed Internet services to the Egyptian countryside, including the access of the fiber-optic network for more than one million buildings comprising more than 3 million housing units.

This is considered the largest project for the development of communications infrastructure at a cost of approximately EGP 6bn and it will be completed according to the project’s specific time plan.

“We are proud to participate in the Decent Life initiative to develop Egyptian villages, which is the greatest project in the field of infrastructure development in modern Egyptian history. Delivering fiber-optic networks to the Egyptian countryside ensures that all Egypt’s digital services are provided to these villages with high efficiency,” Hamed commented.
