Saudi Aramco has signed memorandums of understanding (MoU) with P1 Racing Fuels and WRC Promoter GmbH, the commercial rights owner of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), to formulate advanced-generation biofuels and sustainable synthetic fuels derived from captured CO2 and low-carbon hydrogen.

In a statement, Saudi Arabia’s state energy producer said the fuels will be used in the WRC. FIA has said it would introduce a 100 percent sustainable fuel in the FIA World Rally Championship from the 2022 season.

The partnership will also explore the use of low-carbon fuels to power auxiliary on-site generators, the Saudi state-controlled energy producer said.
