UAE-based carrier Flydubai will cease passenger services to and from Israel for about a week starting tomorrow.

This comes after Israel confirmed it will ban foreign airlines from flying in and out of the country in a bid to curb the spread of coronavirus infections.

Flydubai has recently started flight services between Dubai and Tel Aviv, following the normalization of diplomatic ties between the UAE and Israel.

“In line with the notice to airmen issued by the authorities in Israel, Flydubai flights from Dubai International to Tel Aviv Ben Gurion International Airport have been suspended,” a spokesperson told Zawya.

“Passengers who are booked to travel on these flights will be offered a refund or the option to rebook to a later date,” the spokesperson said.

Israel’s flight ban seeks to stop the spread of the new COVID-19 strains. As of Saturday, the country recorded close to 5,000 new coronavirus cases.

Infections in the UAE have been surging over the last few days, with new cases surging to a record high of 3,591 on Monday.
