MANAMA: Diyar Al Muharraq has announced to build a new mosque and a hall as part of the Sarat residential project.

Named after the late Yousif Abdulla Janahi, the Malalla mosque will serve a neighbourhood of approximately 160 residences and accommodate 200 worshippers at a time.

Set to span a total area of 844sqm of land, the mosque will include a prayer hall for both men and women, a parking lot, as well as a hall in honour of the late Yousif Janahi; exclusively designated for religious events.

The construction contract has been awarded to Tamam Contracting Company and the ground-breaking is due to begin this month.

It will feature traditional Bahraini design inspired by historic local architecture complemented by subtle modern touches.

Commenting, Diyar Al Muharraq chief executive Ahmed Ali Alammadi said: “Every year, the holy month of Ramadan comes bearing goodwill, and it gives us great pleasure to announce the commencement of construction on the Malalla mosque and hall in honour of the late Yousif Janahi, in the Sarat project.”
