UAE capital to host more internationally acclaimed performers during last quarter of 2021 including Arijit Singh concert and Michael McIntyre stand-up show

Abu Dhabi – Abu Dhabi has successfully and safely hosted two live events over the last month, attracting more than 30,000 ticketholders in total to the Disney on Ice and An Evening with Russell Peters shows at Etihad Arena on Yas Island.

Disney on Ice, the first performance of the show outside of the US since the pandemic began, enchanted audiences with 10 days of choreographed extravaganzas telling both classic and new stories.

Starring Disney's loveable characters, including House of Mouse's stars - Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy, the show also included modern crowd favourites such as Moana; and Anna and Elsa from Frozen. The show won the hearts of adAults and children alike by displaying several fascinating performances, including a skate-sung soundtrack of Moana's 'How Far I'll Go', Frozen's 'Let it Go' and 'In Summer'. Those born in the 80s received the most incredible nostalgic throwback with Sebastian and Ariel, Rapunzel and Flynn, and Beauty and the Beast.

A stellar success for Abu Dhabi, the international event showcased the emirate’s full capability to safely host live, large-scale entertainment events.

Furthermore, the emirate also played host to the ground-breaking show of the world-renowned Canadian comedian, Russell Peters, who brought big laughs from the thoroughly entertained crowd with his hilarious and witty observations.

“The outstanding success of these two fantastic shows is testament to Abu Dhabi’s capabilities and commitment to reigniting live events for the public in safe and secure environments,” said HE Ali Hassan Al Shaiba, Executive Director Tourism and Marketing at the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi. “The firm appetite for our diverse entertainment events - which are attracting people from Abu Dhabi and beyond – is matched by the emirate’s comprehensive planning to make sure these events have the very highest standards of health and safety. With these protocols already in place we have ambitious plans to bring even bigger and better shows to Abu Dhabi very soon.”

The impressive calendar of entertainment continues throughout the year and into 2022. International sporting events include UFC 267: BLACHOWICZ vs. TEIXEIRA, the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and FINA World Swimming Championships.  Abu Dhabi will also play host to the Arijit Singh Concert on 19 November and the Michael McIntyre comedy show on 26 November.
