Dubai: Organized by V3 Events, EdTechCon Middle East will kickstart on 8th February 2021. This two-day virtual conference will highlight the adoption of technology in education, and the growing edtech industry in the Middle East region.
Across two days, the conference agenda focuses on over 15 topics, featuring over 25 senior educators representing Ministries, universities, schools and colleges from across the Middle East region and other parts of the world, such as the United Kingdom, Singapore, Estonia, and Hong Kong, amongst others will be participating as speakers and panelists.
The first day of the conference will witness senior renowned educators and edtech experts such as Dr. Zahra Al Rawahi, Director of Innovation Capacity Building at The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Rohan Roberts, Director of Innovation and Future Learning, GEMS Education, Dr. Chen Wenli, Associate Professor, Learning Sciences and Assessment (LSA) Academic Group, National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore and Adam Malouf, Director – Investment, Knowledge Fund, Government of UAE deliver presentations on the future of education after COVID 19, the trends shaping the Edtech industry, pedagogical and technological design for computer-supported collaborative learning in classrooms and the investment strategies and parameters around edtech respectively.
Revamping the traditional modes of teaching, educators have embraced innovative technological solutions to keep learning interactive and students engaged. Senior educators, Philippa Wraithmell, Head of Digital Learning, Cranleigh Abu Dhabi, Kevin Fullbrook, Deputy Director, Al-Bayan Bilingual School, Kuwait, Dr. Fatma Al Maadheed, Education Specialist, Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Qatar and Naima Charlier, Director of Teaching and Learning, Nord Anglia International School, Hong Kong will engage in a panel discussion on how technology has transformed the culture of learning and its opportunities, challenges and roadmap ahead.
Zeeshan Nabi, Director of IT, Chief Innovation & Digital Officer, GEMS International School, Al Khail, Dr. Tenia Kyriazi, Deputy Director of Academic Operations, Middlesex University Dubai, Fiona McKenzie, Head of Education at Carfax Education and Dr Neelam Parmar, Director of EdTech, Digital Learning and Innovation, Ashford School, UK will engage in a discussion on how distance-based solutions are paving the future of education.
The second day of the conference will begin with Peadra Charles Callaghan, Lecturer, Tallinn University presenting on the topic tapping into the power of gamification in education. Kai Vacher, Principal, British School Muscat will deliver a case study presentation on delivering impactful student experiences through innovative pedagogical methods such as blended learning.
The future of hybrid education and its opportunities and challenges will be explored in a panel discussion by Jason Fitzsimmons, Academic President, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Professor Yusra Mouzughi, Vice-Chancellor, Muscat University, Dr. Yousef M. Al-Assaf, President, Rochester Institute of Technology-Dubai and Dr. Mohanad Alfiras, President, Gulf University, Bahrain.
In discussing the dependence of technology in a student’s life, educators Siobhan Dickerson, Director of Specialism, Careers and Higher Education Advisor, GEMS First Point School - The Villa, Linda Parsons, Educational Technology Lead, Deira International School, Raj Kapoor, Director of Student Recruitment, American University in Dubai and Stephen Cox, Chief Education Officer, New Nordic School, Finland will throw light in the role edtech plays in preparing the workforce of the future.
Professor Melodena Stephens, Professor of Innovation Management, Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government will deliver a presentation on harnessing technology to futureproof the education sector - developing a robust strategy to further develop the online learning environment.
With school leaders forced to redefine education methods, the panel discussion with Fiona Cottam, Principal, Hartland International School, Dina Khalaf, Development & Recognition Manager, International Baccalaureate Organization, Dr. Brian Gray, Principal, Springdales School Dubai and Sahar Al Marzouki, Director/Owner, Al Faris International School, KSA will explore at length the lessons learned and the need to reinvent the curriculum to address the challenges.
Over 80-100 educators from schools, colleges and universities across this region and other parts of the globe will participate in this virtual conference.
