Dubai: City Seasons Muscat hotel has recently achieved the re-certification for ISO 22000:2005 Food Safety Management System and deemed the only hotel properties in Oman to have received this prestigious recognition again for a second consecutive year. In January 2015, the hotel already had in place a control system on food safety and obtained the ISO certificate. The audits were performed by Bureau Veritas Oman SAS-UK Branch, the world's leading auditing and certification body.
This certificate was awarded by Mr. John D Rosario, Country Certification Manager Bureau Veritas Oman, Regional Technical Manager-Middle East Region. The award ceremony was held at City Seasons Muscat, Oman was attended by Mr. George Demitry, Group General Manager of City seasons Group of Hotels, Mr. George Mathew City Seasons Group Director of Finance, and all Departments Heads, staffs and members of the media.
ISO 22000 certification provides a complete Food Safety Management System that can be applied to organizations in the global food supply chain. ISO 22000 integrates the principles of the HACCP system and application steps developed by the Codex Alimentarius Commission of the World Health Organization. The aim of Food Safety System Implementation at City Seasons Muscat is to introduce a robust and effective culture including processing and handling as well as storage and serving of food in all service areas

ISO 22000 system being designed to measure and improve the effectiveness of food safety performance in line with the legislative requirements, it was a normal decision for us to move forward into that direction with the aim to carry out a similar exercise in all other properties of the chain,” George Demitry added.
The Food Safety Team, chosen among hotel employees, is meticulously trained and strives to improve Standards of Hygiene and Sanitation, HACCP Plan, Safe food processing, Food handling practices as well as the implementation of Food Safety Program across the hotel.

This adds to the respectful number of certifications received by the hotel in recent months of which “Best Family Hotel in Muscat’ and “Best Business Hotel” as well as the International Luxury Awards title.
