Dubai, UAE: Union Coop, the largest Consumer Cooperative in the UAE signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the UAE Rare Disease Society, to support and sponsor programs, initiatives, events and infrastructural projects that seek to help people with rare diseases, to overcome obstacles, develop a positive outlook and integrate into the society.

The MoU was signed by Mr Mohammed Berregad, Director of Admin Affairs Dept., Union Coop and Mr Mishaal Abdul Wahab Al Hammadi, Chairman of UAE Rare Disease Society, in the presence of Dr Suhail Al Bastaki, Director of Happiness and Marketing Department and officials from both sides.

On the occasion, Mr Mohammed Berregad said: “We look forward to supporting the association to empower people with rare diseases, as well as organize awareness and educational programs through schools, universities, prospective couples and medical staffs, to raise awareness among all groups of the society. The memorandum also includes strengthening efforts regarding charitable work to support rare diseases in the United Arab Emirates.”

For his part, Mr Mishaal Abdul Wahab Al Hammadi said: “We seek to support patients dealing with rare diseases by educating members of the society through awareness campaigns and urging the Government and Private entities in all their forms to participate with us as supporters. It is worth mentioning that the agreement with Union Coop has a great role in supporting the association through community participation that contributes to the achievement of our objective.”
