• Ras Al Khaimah International Airport and Flynas join forces to cater to Hajj pilgrims

Ras Al Khaimah, UAE: Ras Al Khaimah International Airport officially inaugurated its new-look Duty Free shopping area yesterday, following extensive renovations. Distinguished senior officials from the Ras Al Khaimah government, RAK International Airport management, and Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) presided over the ribbon cutting ceremony and unveiled the remodelled stores.

The state-of-the-art Duty-Free retail space in Departures and Arrivals terminals were upgraded in response to an increasing number of passengers in recent years. RAK Duty Free further enhances the shopping experience by housing a wide selection of prestigious brands that include Jimmy Choo, Hugo Boss, Giorgio Armani, Yves Saint Laurent, Ralph Lauren, Carolina Herrera, Diesel, Roberto Cavalli, Gucci, Channel, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Davidoff, Burberry and Bulgari, among others, as well as premium confectionary, beverages and cosmetics brands.

The enhanced airport experience for visitors follows the announcement that TUI Group, the world’s largest tourism business and ITAKA, will extend the partnership with Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority with 6 flights operating weekly from 4 airports in Poland, as a result of the increasing popularity of the Emirate with Polish visitors. The forthcoming winter season will also see RAK International Airport welcoming two weekly flights from Russia and a weekly flight from Luxembourg.

With a steadfast commitment to attracting visitors from key European markets, Ras Al Khaimah International airport along with RAKTDA also secured the first direct flight from Prague to Ras Al Khaimah last summer, in cooperation with Czech tour operator Fischer.

On this occasion, Sanjay Khanna – Chief Executive Officer of Ras Al Khaimah International Airport, commented: “Enhancing the airport to meet best international standards comes as a natural step due to the significant role we play in creating positive first impressions and experiences amongst tourists. In a concerted effort to meet the growing needs of local and regional travellers, RAK International Airport also announced it has signed a long-term agreement with Flynas, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to help Indian pilgrims travel to the Kingdom for the 2019 Hajj season.  With the Hajj pilgrimage of the utmost importance in the Islamic calendar, booking for next year’s special flights was launched on 27th August, solidifying the airport’s dedication to serving pilgrims and other visitors travelling to the sacred city of Mecca.
