Oman’s Ministry of Transport has reissued design consultancy services tender for the Khasab-Diba asphalt road sections 2 and 4 and the link road to Lima in the Musandam Governorate.

The project consists of designing a single carriageway asphalt road for part of Khasab-Diba road and link to Lima. The existing Khasab-Daba road is a 96- kilometre-long mountainous earth track road and the existing link to Lima is also a 23 km-long track road, according to a tender board notice.

Tender documents are available till 1 March 2021 and bid submission closes on 31 March 2021.

Earlier this month, Oman’s ruler Sultan Haitham bin Tarik had directed the authorities to go ahead by finding alternative routes to accomplish the delayed project.

The project estimated to cost $1 billion was announced in 2011 and has been delayed due to the rugged terrain and steep costs.

A tender for the design construction, operation and maintenance was last floated in November 2019 which received bids from local company Galfar Engineering & Contracting and Turkish firm Kolin Insaat.
