Dubai, United Arab Emirates:  Noor Dubai Foundation launched today their official website.

The website provides a medium for the Foundation to increase awareness about eye health nationally, regionally and internationally. The portal will also help raise support for eye health programmes especially in countries of need.

His Excellency Humaid Al Qutami, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Noor Dubai Foundation said during the launch ceremony that the NGO has come a long way since its inception in 2008 and has benefitted more that 27 million people.  “We are proud of our journey. The website will highlight our programmes and further help strengthen our network and partnership opportunities so that we can continue to provide eye-care and the gift-of-sight to those in countries of need.”

Al Qutami thanked His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates for their patronage and support of humanitarian and philanthropic initiatives.

The new website is designed in compliance with Smart Websites Excellence Model (V4.1) of Smart Dubai Government, which ensures a secure interface for end users and a responsive design framework, which can be viewed optimally on any device or browser –be it desktop, tablet or mobile. The website will also provide font size increase or decrease option to read, making it more user friendly for people with low vision.

The website will provide a user-friendly platform for users to access information on Noor Dubai’s national and international programmes, shedding light on the Foundation’s vision, strategic initiatives, and latest campaigns and events. The website will also provide information on the Foundation’s contribution towards sustainable development in the field of eye care and on the latest developments in this space.

During the launch ceremony, Al Qutami felicitated H.E. Wesam Lootah, CEO of Smart Dubai Government Establishment, employees from Smart Dubai and DHA for their role in the development of the website. 

Dr Manal Taryam , CEO and Board Member, Noor Dubai Foundation said, “ We aimed to provide a user-friendly experience for increased awareness about the work we do or for taking part in supporting the Foundation’s goals. As a member of several international affiliations such as the International Agency for Prevention of blindness (IAPB) and the International Coalition for Trachoma Control (ICTC), it is critical that our official communication channels shed light on our programmes in order to strengthen our network and partnership opportunities.  In addition, Noor Dubai also works with government bodies to help countries achieve their sustainable development goal such as SDG 3– (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 1 – (No Poverty), and SDG 6 – (Clean water and Sanitation).  Therefore, it is important for the officials in those countries we support and other potential new regions to have regular access to our progress to allow for better coordination and expansion opportunities.”

The website will also provide a clear road map for donors on the various channels of donation, including steps to complete the transaction.  Through an integration with the Dubai Smart Gov e-pay portal, the website will allow donors to donate directly through the website, providing a simple and a quick way to complete donations.

The website will also give users access to a number of automated services, including a platform to directly upload documents through the website, allowing UAE Residents applying for medical assistance through UAE treatment programmes to send through their files from the comfort of their home.

The website also aims to promote UAE community engagement by providing users with access to the national platform for volunteering in the UAE, volunteers.ae. The website also provides access to users to submit requests for the Noor Dubai’s award winning national program , the mobile eye clinic, for free vision screening.
